You'd think I'd have learned by now. BUT noooo... not even close.
Yesterday, being Miss Frugal Shopper, I went to a discount clothing/household items/whatever store, to pick up a few things. A few discounted things. I must say that 99.99% of everything I did buy, it was a great deal, and I'm well pleased.
This leaves the 1 item that I should have not purchased. No, it wasn't the package of strawberry newtons, those were in fact well pleasing to all who partook. It was the discount pkg of AA batteries. 18 of them, to be exact, for $1.97. Sounds like a great deal, eh? Sound too good to be true? That's because it IS too good to be true.
So I get home, pop 4 of these shiney new discounters into my digital camera - reset the time & date, go outside, and take 2 pictures. Yes, a whole 2. Then they died. I said "WHAT???" and replaced them - thinking "this is just a fluke". I took 3 more pics, and they died. I said "oh come ON, this is CRAZY". Huffed and puffed, sniveled and whined, and Kev just laughed at me. He replied "don't you think it's time to just buy a charger?". He thinks he's so smart. Fine, it's time to buy a charger. Grr.
On another note...
The other night I had a spontaneous opportunity to spend some solid, quality time in prayer. Doc says it's acid reflux, I say it's IBS, the jury is still out. Either way, when I get a bad stomach ache, I find my way to my knees. While praying, a song popped into my head. This never happens - and I do mean never. The melody and the words were just there... so I began to sing this song of praise. My stomach still hurt but I didn't want to forget the melody or the words so I went downstairs to the piano and starting plinking my way across the keys, trying to find the tune. Once I found the first line, I wrote all the words down. I needed to have Kim here, since she's the piano player - it would have been so handy!
I can read music enough to sort of play. I can only play with one hand - so I only play the recognizable part of a song (the lower notes completely mess me up, it's like driving a standard, it just doesn't work for me). I am so not gifted in the musical instrument territory. So, I emailed Kim and asked her if she would like to figure this out, if I send her the notes. I haven't finished writing the whole thing out (note-wise), but when I do, I'll send it to her and hopefully she can turn it into a real song. That would be nice.
Here are the words (note - I am NOT a songwriter):
By His hand, and for His glory
I live, I move I breathe (2x)
Redeemed, reclaimed, I've been set free
Bought by His blood on Calvary's tree
Freed to live to please my King
Freed by His everlasting love for me
By His own hand, and for His glory,
He chose to set me free.
That's it. That's the song. Short, yes, but it sure blessed me to sing it while kneeling there wanting to cry because of the pain. Made all the difference.
And now... I need to go to WalMart and buy a battery charger. Kev thinks he's so smart.
